Tourists from China ranks first in the list of foreign tourists who most visited Bali from January to August this year, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) announced.
BPS Bali branch chief Adi Nugroho said on Monday that as of July, the number of tourist arrivals from China reached 1.04 million people, this is a 58.69 percent increase over the same period of the previous year.
Adi said Chinese tourists’ visits accounted for 26.21 percent of the total number of tourists that came to Bali during the period.
After China, the biggest visits came from Australia and India, followed by Japan, UK and USA.
The Chinese Consul General in Bali, Hu Yinquan said on a separate occasions that they promote Bali tourism to its citizens, emphasizing on the art and cultural similarity between Bali and his country.
In addition, the increase of foreign tourists from China is also supported by the direct flights provided by Garuda Indonesia.
